FAQ's or Common Questions

A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions," also known as common questions.

A: Life Coaching is unique and effective. Coaching is not therapy. As a Life Coach we do not analyze, diagnose, label or treat. As a Life Coach we assist our clients to create the life of their dreams, by designing a life plan, often called an action plan.

Coaching is a forward thinking concept, we do not dwell on the past. Instead we focus on the here-and-now and the future. Why spend time focusing on the past, the only thing that you can change is your view or perception of the past. Coaching is all about focusing on your thought process, not the events. We often say in coaching, it is not about the story, it is about how you react to the story.

Q: What role does Wholistic Counseling play in the Health & healing journey?

A: Everyone must find their own balancing process in their health, mental state, managing daily tasks and the stress that may be related, as well as dealing and learning from their life experiences. Your Wholistic Counselor aids in this process, as well as giving you tools to utilize for yourself.

Also, each person has their own belief system that is taken into consideration for there healing process, problem solving and reframing of the thought processes for finding clarity and direction in there daily lives. Individuals may learn how to reflect on how their own unique spirituality/beliefs affect their lives in the present and future. Throughout treatment, each person is respected and honored for their own beliefs and religious affiliations. Wholistic support counseling is considered in a confidential, non-judgmental environment where all experiences and questions are accepted and considered. Though not a part of everyone’s goals in therapy, when utilized -Individual spiritual perspectives may take the form of spiritual direction, a means of opening the mind and heart to a higher power in order to develop a growing awareness of, and attentiveness to, what is sacred in every life.

Q: What is Reiki & how is it defined?

A: Reiki is a powerful, precise system of healing which is believed it has been practiced though millenia, by many of the ancient cultures on earth, including ancient India and Tibet thousands of years ago. It was re-discovered by a Christian Monk, Dr. Mikao Usui, whom lived in Japan. He was challenged about the veracity of the healing miracles described in the Bible, and asked to explain how they were performed. In his research and spiritual quest he discovered it accesses a universal life force energy. This energy also known as prana, mana, chi, Holy Spirit, the Creators Universal energy and God Source, helps promote healing in all living things on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The Reiki Master and Reiki Practitioner are channels or facilitators for this healing energy.

A: Reiki defined-  The word Rei as it is used in Reiki is interpreted to mean knowledge of spiritual consciousness which is all knowing.
Ki is the life force. It is also called the vital life force or the universal life force. This is the non-physical energy (also recognized as the electromagnetic energy) that animates, circulates and surrounds all living things. If there is a restriction in the flow of one's Ki a vulnerability to illness occurs. When it is high and flowing freely -better physical and mental health is experienced. Life force plays an important role in everything we do. It animates the body and is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
Reiki is considered alternative or complimentary healing, holistic therapy, natural healing, and natural touch -and is used in holistic health and alternative medicine.

Q: How does Reiki work; what is the healing process?

A: In a process similar to "laying on of hands", a practitioner is utilized as a facilitator for the Creators healing energy or the Universal Life force in which we were animated & living by. Life force (electromagnetic energy) flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians and nadirs. We are alive because of this. It flows even beyond the body in a field of energy called the "Aura", nourishing the organs and cells of the body as it supports them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in the organs and tissues of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging there with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body causing the negative energy to break apart and fall away, or simply balance. In so doing, Reiki or reiki process clears, straightens and helps to heal the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Q: How can Reiki be used?

A: I am going to make this simple. Reiki can be used for everything and anything that needs healing or needs to return to harmony or balance. That can be physical, mental, spiritual or emotional; past, present and the future. You can and should use your intuition for using Reiki.
Reiki is both powerful and gentle. In its long history of use it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury including serious problems like: flu, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cancer -as well as, skin problems, cuts, bruises, broken bones, headache, colds, sore throat, sunburn, fatigue, insomnia, impotence, poor memory, and lack of confidence; Reiki is beneficial and help works to improve the effectiveness of all other types of therapy. A treatment feels wonderful and rejuvenating; it even encouraged many benefits including altered states of consciousness and spiritual experiences. Reiki will help improve the results of all medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time, reduce or help eliminate pain and stress. It is a powerful precise system of healing as a facilitator of the universal life force and Holy Spirit.

Q: Is Reiki a religion or do you need to believe in any specific religion or philosophy to use or receive it?

A: While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion or cult. It has no dogma and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn to use Reiki or receive the benefits. Reiki works with all religions and beliefs. Remember it is the energy in which animates, balances and harmonizes all of life -so it is in continuous work, much like gravity, without your direct knowledge or "belief" in it.

Q: Could you clarify my thoughts in relationship to Reiki & Christianity; can they be used together?

A: Christian churches have a long tradition of adopting practices that enhance the spiritual life of its members based on examples of Jesus' actions described in the Bible. Some churches use music and liturgy; others use silence and inspired prayer; some worship on Saturday (7th Day Adventists) and others on Sunday; some use dance and others sit throughout much of the service; some baptize by emersion and others by sprinkling water on the head; some honor saints and seek their help while others seek angelic experiences. In Christian worship, the cross is used as a focus of worship complemented by candles, music, prayer beads, bells, incense, and other ritual items. These many and varied practices indicate the range of methods that different Christian groups incorporate to follow the teachings of the Bible and to come closer to God. While they are different, they all fall within the definition of Christianity.

As Christians seek ways to increase and strengthen their spiritual moments, many have adopted practices to develop the "Gifts of the Spirit." In
I Corinthians 12:4-12, Paul speaks of the gifts to including speaking wisdom and knowledge and the power to heal. Also Paul describes people within the church having roles as apostles, prophets, teachers, those who perform miracles, those who heal, those who direct others and those who speak in strange tongues (I Corinthians 12:28-31).
Because one of the spiritual gifts is healing, devoted Christians who take direction from the above scripture have looked into the laying on of hands and more recently, the practice of Reiki. In addition, many Christian seekers have found John 14:12
an important source of guidance as well as reassurance that becoming healers it is not only possible, but also something we as Christians should develop if we feel spiritually guided to do so: "I am telling you the truth: whoever believes in me will do what I do-yes, he will do even greater things because I am going to the Father." (TEV)

Within that quotation is both instruction and challenge. As Christians search for ways to follow more fully Jesus' teachings and examples in order to draw closer to God, it is important to be aware of the examples Jesus set for us. Many of these focused on healing others (
Matt: 14:14, Mark 3:10, Luke 4:38-39). And much of his healing was done by laying on hands. Here are a few examples: In Matthew 8:14-15, Jesus uses touch to heal Peter's mother-in-law of a fever. In Mark 1:40-42 Jesus uses his hands to heal a man with leprosy. This is also mentioned in Luke 5:12-13. Matthew 20:29-34 describes how Jesus healed two blind men by touching their eyes and in Mark 8:22-25 Jesus uses his hands to heal another blind man. In Mark 7:32-35 he uses touch to heal a man who is deaf and can't speak. In Luke 7:12-15, Jesus raises a dead man by touching his coffin and in Luke 8:49-55
Jesus uses touch to return a dead girl to life.
Scripture clearly indicates that healing is something appropriate for Christians to be involved with. Christians who have a solid foundation in their faith know that God will always protect and guide them. Those Christians who practice Reiki do so within the guidance and protection of God secure in the belief that they have been guided to follow Jesus' example to be a healer.

Additional support is spoken by Jesus in John 14:12, when he says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes in me shall do the works which I do; and even greater than these things shall he do, because I am going to my Father." Also in John 1:4 it is acknowledged the life force or light by God and in us, where it reads, "The life was in him, and the life is the light of men." As it is acknowledged in the practice of Reiki and in the way in which it was handed down through the generations, the practitioner (or the one whom felt a personnal calling in this gift) is "doing the healing", though is the facilitator or instrument of the healing life force which aids the one being "healed" in their own balance and harmonizing into well-being in re-aligning with the positive energy of their Creator and universe.
